The Imperial Hotel is a
jewel of classical and historical value, and has a rich history
dating back to the golden era of the 19th century.
Established in 1865, the
hotel boasts an architectural influence of the high Victorian
period. At that time Malta was a British colony and many of the
people starting imitating British lifestyles, including building
their stately homes along their architectural styles.
In fact the Imperial
Hotel boasts a grandiose sweeping staircase in its lobby. It is
one of the most beautiful examples of such staircases still found
today, and in fact it was featured in a movie by Roger Moore in
the 1970s.
The furniture that
is found in our hotel is also a work of art. We have several
unique pieces amongst which a lovely mantelpiece clock dating back
from Louis XIV and some beautiful antique mirrors in our lobby
.
