The Dragonara Palace was built in 1870 as a summer residence for Emanuele Scicluna,
a banker who was made a marquis in 1875 on the strength of a loan to Pope Pius IX.
On the 10th June 1999 the Casino reopened after a Lm2 million refurbishment programme and since then has strengthened its share in the market and improved the overall offer to its customers through Accor Casino and its Maltese partners.
Accor Casinos as from the 1st January 05 has merged with Groupe Lucien Barriere and have now become the largest casino operator in Europe with 38 casinos and 11 luxury hotel resorts.

What to expect at the Dragonara Casino:
186 Slot Machines with various denominations starting from 1 cent to 25 cents. There is an 12-seater Automatic Roulette, a 12-seater Horse Racing Machine and progressives (one with 15 machines linked together and the other with 5 machines linked)

19 Live Tables:- offering Roulette, Black Jack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Super Texas Poker, Punto Banco and Open Poker.

Within the casino there is a Bar with live entertainment every day of the year. The bar is also equipped with a large Plasma screen.

A Brasserie offering a varied a la carte menu focusing on French / Mediterranean Cuisine with a seating capacity of 60 covers and during the summer months we also open the Terrace which can cater for an additional 120 covers outdoors.

A separate Slots smoking area has been officially launched in February 05 and another separate smoking lounge is also available.

The Brasserie is open daily from 12:30 to 14:30 hrs for lunch and from 19:00 hrs to 01:00 hrs for dinner... Moreover, the Casino Terrace is open from the third week of June until the end of September.

The Bar is open as per casino opening hours.

The casino is open 24 hours a day over the Christmas period, Easter and in the month of August.
